Mediation and Peace: The Work of Non-State Actors for the Liberation of Ukrainian Children

September 6th, 2025

This morning at the Fabrique de la Diplomatie in Paris, organised by the French Ministry for Europe and Foreign Affairs and hosted by Université Paris 1 Panthéon-Sorbonne (Université Sorbonne Nouvelle), Emile Foundation joined an important roundtable on “Mediation and Peace: The Work of Non-State Actors for the Liberation of Ukrainian Children.”

Our Communications Director, Olena Kalabania spoke on behalf of Emile Foundation. She highlighted three key pillars of our work on the ground:

🔹 Supporting the return of abducted children, with urgent cases in two Kherson region institutions.
🔹 Providing post-return psychological care and recovery, including the upcoming Little Heroes Village rehabilitation centre.
🔹 Advancing advocacy and international cooperation, most recently through a Memorandum of Understanding with the Office of the Public Defender of Rights of the Slovak Republic.

We are grateful to the organisers, the moderator, and our fellow panelists for this much-needed exchange. Together with our partners, we remain committed. Our goal is to ensure that every Ukrainian child unjustly taken is brought back home, healed, and protected.
