France24: the abduction of Ukrainian children explained
Through the abduction of Ukraine’s children, Russia seeks to eradicate Ukrainian identity, history, and an entire country.
In her interview to France24, Mariam Lambert, CEO of Emile Foundation, highlights:
🔹 19,546 children officially identified by Ukraine as stolen by Russia. But the real number could be much higher.
🔹 Specific cases, like Margarita Prokopenko, abducted at 10 months and later adopted by a Russian official under a different name.
🔹 The urgent need for a neutral mechanism (third-country DNA tests in case of the stolen baby-girl, mediators such as Vatican, Qatar, BRICS nations, the U.S.) to reunite families and ensure accountability.
🔹 Emile Foundation’s work tracing children from Kherson Home Orphanage and Oleshky Children’s Boarding School, already locating dozens and supporting families through legal and psychological aid.
As Mariam reminds viewers, Russia’s narrative of “saving” children violates the Geneva Conventions at every step: no information for families, name changes, Russian passports, and forced “re-education.”
Every voice, every platform, every action counts in bringing these children home.
🙏 Thank you to the France24 team, the journalist François Picard for this valuable opportunity.
