The story of a 10-month old baby abducted by Russia: Margarita Prokopenko
In September 2022, a Ukrainian baby, just 10 months old, was abducted by Russian forces. Her name is Margarita Prokopenko.
After she was taken, Russia gave her a new name and a new passport, erasing her identity. Documents show that Sergey Mironov, a 70-year-old Russian political leader, is listed on the adoption record.
But Margarita’s mother has never stopped searching for her child. Instead of answers, Russian officials told her: “Why are you searching? Maybe your child has been sold for organs.”
This is not adoption.
This is child abduction.
Every child – everywhere – deserves dignity, safety, and the right to grow up with their family. Russia has violated those rights.
It is time to bring Margarita, and every Ukrainian child kidnapped by Russia, home.
